The Oregon Trail – bold and broad depicts wagon train travel - challenging, demanding of one’s all, and fraught with big dreams. By the end the pioneers have reached Ft. Kearney, Nebraska. Invitation pauses for a moment to enjoy the wonders of
nature. Pioneers described a number of beautiful places on this portion of the journey, west along the Platte River in Nebraska. What is to Come finds the travelers moving from extreme western Nebraska into Wyoming. In the distance the Rockies can be seen, as the terrain becomes more challenging. It is clear that the journey is about to become more difficult. This wonderful poem captures the moment well - especially the line, Shall we not take the ebb who had the flow? The final song finds the pioneers in Ft. Laramie, Wyoming. Here it was common for the settlers to stay a few days to restock, rest, and prepare for the next portion of the trip. The poem, Renewal of Strength is set as a hymn or prayer for strength.
